2025.07.17 Level Forecast

Severe thunderstorms brought heavy, localized rainfall to the northern part of the basin over the weekend and along the Rainy River on Tuesday. This led to temporary increases in flows and water levels in those areas. However, forecasts show a return to lower precipitation amounts over the coming week. With both Lake of the Woods and Lac Seul levels expected to rise gradually, no outflow changes are planned at this time.

The current level of Lake of the Woods is 322.79 m (1059.0 ft), a 10th percentile level, below the normal range for this time of year. The average lake level remained stable over the last week and is expected to increase by 1 to 5 cm (0.4 to 2 in) over the next week. Lake of the Woods authorized outflow is 250 m3/s with no changes scheduled.

The current level of Lac Seul is 355.97 m (1167.9 ft), a 20th percentile level, below the normal range for this time of year. The lake level increased by 6 cm (2.4 in) over the last week and is expected to increase by 6 to 10 cm (2.4 to 4 in) over the next week. Lac Seul authorized outflow is 100 m3/s with no changes scheduled.
